I find people are quick to take a statement and run with it, even though they are running in the wrong direction. If you recall, Amy Wax a Law professor at the University of Pennsylvania made a comment about the U.S. is better off with fewer Asians and fewer Asian immigrants. The dean of the University said he would seek sanctions against law professor Amy Wax over discriminatory remarks she made about the Asian American community. I personally don’t think the remark made by Amy Wax was discriminatory, the remark depends on how one chooses to interpret it. The U.S. Asian population is projected to reach 46 million by 2060. By 1960, the first-time census respondents could choose their own race, 980,000 individuals self-identified as Asians. The Asian population is the fastest-growing racial or ethnic group in America, a group to be admired and respected for taking advantage of opportunities. Between 2000 and 2019 their numbers grew by 81% outpacing a 70% increase among Hispanics. The Black population grew by 20% during this span, while there was virtually no change in the White population. The modern immigration wave from Asia has accounted for a quarter of all immigrants who arrived in the U.S. since 1965. Asian Americans are projected to be the nation’s largest immigrant group by the middle of the century. The homeownership rate is on the rise among Asian Americans, and household income headed by Asian people was $85,800 compared with $61,800 among all U.S. households. All told, 12 Asian-origin groups had a higher median household income than the median among all Americans. Asians are less likely than Americans overall to live in poverty. Just think about that for a moment! Life is very, very serious Economically, Mentally, and physically you must be educated and have a strong body and mind. I don’t think Amy Wax was being discriminatory, she was stating a fact based on facts. There is a Mayoral race in the city on the 16th of May, and there is an Asian lady leading the race who I think could be nominated because the Asian community will support her and rightly should, along with other voters. I felt there are too many other candidates in the race which will split the voters allowing the Asian women to win. My prediction concerning the mayoral primary race was wrong however, there is an Asian man running against the female black woman who won the primary mayoral race. The three will decide our next mayor the Blacks, Whites, and Asians will pair off in November against one another for who will be our next Mayor of this great city. Now! The white voters will be the deciding factor as to who will become Mayor in November. I think this is a first, a Black and Asian are running for Mayor in a city owned by white people. This is huge for the Asian communities.
